During the early years of my career, I believed that when I got to ‘6-figures’ I would have ‘arrived’ at my destination-
success, freedom, fulfilment, happiness, peace.
But when I got there I didn’t feel like I had ‘arrived’ at all
I had a ‘good’ life
But it didn’t feel enough.
Not by a long stretch
– I knew there was so much more inside me as yet untapped.
What I discovered was that as my income had increased, so had my tastes for the finer things in life.
Yes, I had a bigger home, a newer car, better holiday destinations – but still – it didn’t feel like I had ‘arrived’.
Because my desire was for something more than these material things. Yes they add to the fuller enjoyment of life, but-
I didn’t feel fulfilled, happy, free,
This is something you may relate to if you’ve achieved a great level of success to date, yet feel unfulfilled.
Still not really ‘living the dream’.
Your work – it’s good, but Monday morning certainly doesn’t feel as delicious as Friday afternoon.
You still count down the weeks to that holiday.
Still covet that new car, the bigger home, the more desirable location.
But it’s not even really about those things really – what you really crave – if you’re anything like me – is happiness, calmness, safety, arrived-ness.
But <whipser> we feel terrible about it –
I mean you’ve achieved so much, and there are people starving in the world. And here you are feeling dissatisfied with ‘everything you’ve got’.
You’ve built a good life.
You’re respected for your skills, experience and contribution.
You earn well.
People come to you for answers.
Yet inside, something feels restless.
It’s not burnout.
It’s not a desire for ‘more responsibility’
It’s something else.
Years later, I now recognise it for what it was – the ache of unlived potential.
If you feel that the freedom you chased still feels so far away.
Even now. Even here.
Then I hear you.
I’m not going to tell you to ‘practice gratitude’.
Yes – this is important – but the key is to balance gratitude for how far you’ve come while celebrating the dissatisfaction you still feel.
I salute you for that dissatisfaction. Why? Because you have more service to give to your fellow humans.
We were all trained, conditioned – to chase milestones – money, titles, homes, recognition.
But no external arrival point can never satisfy that internal feeling – your internal GPS – that tells you there’s more – for you.
Because you know you haven’t fulfilled your greatest potential yet, you haven’t developed your genius to the level of service you know you can offer the world.
There is a lot more inside you ready to come out – but you just don’t know how.
And you definitely don’t want to work harder, or sacrifice any area of your life.
Oh. my goodness I remember that feeling so clearly – feeling stuck where I was because I didn’t know ‘how’ to change it.
But I did change it – my life now is such a contrast from then, and when I look back I can see that I could never, ever have worked out ‘how’ from where I was back then. We can never work out the ‘how’ when we don’t yet know. But the ‘how’ is so much easier than you think – I promise you with my hand on my heart, having walked the path.
So my guidance to you is this:
Be still, quiet, repeat ‘I feel calm and relaxed’ for 1-2 minutes.
Then connect to that inner feeling – what is it that you really, truly want?
Stop suppressing it – it’s there for a reason.
What do you really want?
Ask yourself again – “What do I really, truly want?”
What kind of a life? If anything was possible, and your success was guaranteed?
There is a life of extraordinary fulfilment, peace, calmness, joy, fun, laughter, harmonious relationships – PLUS money, wealth, dream opportunities, luxury destinations – they are all there, waiting for you to stop settling for what doesn’t feel anything like ‘arrival’ to you.
Listen to it – it’s powerful – it can guide you to the life you once only dreamt of.
I know because I was that dissatisfied person for so long – suppressing my true potential because I didn’t know ‘how’.
The ‘how’ is not the issue – the suppression, the settling, and the inner chatter is.
Once you allow it in, your whole life will start to dramatically transform.
But you have to be fearless, you have to know what you truly want.
And you have to be prepared to pay the price of getting it.
The price?
It’s not sacrifice, stress, hustle and long hours or toil.
No.
It’s merely being honest and brave enough to say – ‘This – is not ‘it’ for me. I haven’t yet arrived – there is more and I’m going to make the absolute best of this life I have.
And then follow the steps your intuition guides you to take.
I tell you from the bottom of my heart – the life yet unlived is worth every step of discomfort.
The true skill is just learning to separate your intuition from the fear-based conditioning that keeps you stuck and away from your true ‘arrivals’ lounge.
Once you master that.. the path starts to unfold before your very eyes.
Effortlessly,
Guinevere
P.s. if this resonated with you and you’d like to learn the ‘how’, we have a new cohort starting in House of Effortless in July – I’ll be taking you through the ‘how’ step by step for 26 weeks – DM me ‘ARRIVAL’ and I’ll send you the details.
